Ronita Mahilall talks to ebizradio
Our CEO, Ronita Mahilall spoke to ebizradio about end of life care, a taboo no-one talks about, and the role and community reach of St Luke’s Combined Hospices.
The palliative care approach provides specialised care, focusing on the reduction of pain and symptoms of life-threatening illness. The aim of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Palliative care includes the treatment of pain as well as other problems that can be physical, psychosocial and spiritual.
Palliative care professionals work together with a patient’s doctors to provide an extra layer of support. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness, and it can be provided along with curative treatment.
