ACCOUNTANT

We require the services of an Accountant who will be responsible for the effective financial administration of St Luke’s Combined. The successful candidate, will work closely with the HOD: Finance and Retail and will be required to ensure that the debtors, creditors, procurement, payments, management reporting, reconciliations, journals and month end administration are done timeously and correctly.

ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Com Accounting degree
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience (Exposure in NPO’s will be considered as an added advantage)
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Proven team leadership capabilities
  • Advanced computer literacy with experience in MS Office Suite (inclusive of MS Project), Pastel Accounting and VIP
  • Unendorsed driver’s licence
  • Fluency in at least 2 official languages (added advantage)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Manage all accounting transactions
  • Prepare budget forecasts
  • Publish financial statements in time
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure timely bank payments
  • Manage the Internet Banking facility for the community hospices
  • Create, maintain and enhance relationships with stakeholders
  • Manage team member/s and facilitate people development
  • Perform other duties, as and when so requested, in support of team goals
