Frequently Asked Questions
- How old do I have to be to become a volunteer at St Luke’s Combined Hospices?
All our volunteers who work with patients need to be 18 years old or over, but we do have some volunteers who are younger than 18 helping from time to time in our fundraising department and retail department.
- I have sent an email and have not yet heard back. What should I do?
The staff working in our volunteer department are very busy and may take longer than they would like to respond. Should you not hear back from us after a week following your inquiry, please do contact us again.
- How much time do I need to volunteer?
Time commitment will vary depending on the role. Some volunteers help us at an occasional event, while others commit to a weekly four-hour shift.
- Do I have to pay for the training?
Some of the volunteer training such as the Bereavement and the Basic Hospice Course do have a cost while others, such as the orientation, are free.
